Autos are a menace anywhere you go.... but plying at the cost of a deadly fuel and people’s life is certainly not right. I just fail to understand.. that when state governments like Delhi have taken steps to ensure that only CNG buses, taxis and autos will run on roads, then why can’t it be put across all India.
I am sure no action will be taken right now due to elections. Hope that the actions are taken soon.

Thanks for your views. You are absolutely right.I think all the state govts
should take immediate actions to stop the environment pollution as it is a

solutions on part of the State Govt.Temporarily this crucial issue is on
hold due to the upcoming elections. We can only hope for the best.

hi! Aditi, a nice story. If we compare the auto menace with Delhi then you will feel that the picture is bit different. In Kolkata autos usually ply between fixed destination (often between transport between metro stations) Where as in Delhi it is a ’survival of the fittest’ as invariably these auto drivers nod in the negative irrespective of distance and we Delhi-ites land up either in fight or walk on and wait for the buses which is hell. Apart from that you have over charging as seldom you will find autos running as per meter and mostly ornamental. In Kolkata at least you have the option of taxi which too was once the biggest ’menace’ especially ’lal shalu’ (red cloth) tied to meter during lunch time but today thanks to metro which has changed the picture and literary welcome passengers with open doors. I am confidant it would happen to Delhi too since metro is fast getting into Delhi culture.

Thanks for your comment and also for highlighting the ”auto menace” that you
people are facing everyday in the state capital.Yeah actually every metro
cities are facing different kind of problems with regular transport system
which is so very crucial in our lives.Yes,taxis are definitely there in
kolkata, but you would barely get one in times of need.Mismanagement has
actually taken a firm root in all our systems and the issues which should be
dealt with a war footing always take a backseat due to trivial political
arguements. One other thing I would like to tell you in this regard. In this
article I have actually tried to figure out the environment issue, the deadly
pollution that the autos are doing on a daily basis. The poisonous gas
emission must be immediately checked to let the citizens live in a healthy
situation. And as you are aware of that it can only be done by converting
these autos into the green ones.
But anyway, you have also given me some valuable insights regarding the
conveyance problem in Delhi. Thanks for it.
